I collect quotes. I gather them close and bring in more. They aren’t all deep and profound and they are often with a wee bit of wryness or humour, but they keep me connected … to me. They all, on some level, inspire me. To keep improving. To stay grounded. To remember to laugh. To change my perspective.
Here are my favourite five (of the moment!)
Existence has overpowered books. Today, I slew a mushroom.
—Emily Dickinson
The morning cup of coffee has an exhilaration about it which the cheering influence of the afternoon or evening cup of tea cannot be expected to reproduce.
—Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.
Poetry is life distilled.
—Gwendolyn Brooks
Be true! Be true! Be true! Show freely to the world, if not your worst, yet some trait whereby the worst may be inferred!
—Nathaniel Hawthorne
Fear paralyzes; curiosity empowers. Be more interested than afraid.
—Patricia Alexander
Oh, there are so many more I can share (and will!). They each connect to me in a different way and hold me to some of my core truths.
